Had to repost this one after rediscovering Icky Mettle today—it was a good buy.
Archers of Loaf - “Web in Front”
The first song on the first album, Icky Mettle, from Chapel Hill, NC’s Archers of Loaf. Unversally accalaimed as the best indie rock record of 1993, Icky Mettle is an intriguing listen bending college rock and 90’s punk into an energetic, bar fight of a sound.
Jesse Lacey from Brand New got pretty obsessed with this album at one point and you can hear it in BN’s 2006 record The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me.
